Official: Obama puts Portuguese Water Hound on the short list

It's a memorable day for the Portuguese Water Dog breed. This rare breed was given its 15 minutes fame (well, maybe a bit more :) ), after President-elect Barack Obama revealed the Portuguese Water Hound is on the short list for the White House chosen dog.

Obama revealed the dog short list in a interview with ABC News George Stephanopoulos and the Portuguese Water Dog is for sure going to benefit from the exposure. The Portuguese Water Dog, also known as PWD is an ancient breed of dogs, going back to the XIII century in Europe.

The dog is originally from Portugal, a small country in the western part of Europe and it's population had a steep decline, reaching a low in the 70s. However, they recovered and now there's a normal number of Portuguese Water Hounds out there.

There is a big curiosity to see which dog will win the White House seat. We will follow as the drama unfolds. But the Portuguese Water Dog is already a winner!
